Get black and white bedroom ideas from my primary bedroom redesign.
About a year ago I decided to do a mini primary bedroom refresh using furniture I already owned. During that mini refresh, I painted our bedroom white, swapped out the curtains, added new artwork above the bed and changed out the lighting on my nightstands.

I had every intention of doing a complete redesign down the road…which is now! This time around, I decided to do a complete redesign. I’m only partially done the redesign in our primary bedroom, but I wanted to go ahead and share the progress because it has undergone a huge transformation already!
Our new bed has been on my wishlist for quite awhile and I finally decided it was time to buy it. It is definitely a splurge purchase, but it’s an incredibly high quality piece of furniture and I know it was last us many years to come.
It has a beautiful fabric and I especially love the trim pieces around the border of the footboard and headboard. Those small details are actually what drew me to this particular bed in the first place.
The other new purchase I made for our black and white bedroom redesign is our nightstands. I actually also bought the matching wide dresser and tall dresser but they haven’t arrived yet. We live in a 1970’s home and there isn’t much closet space so we need all dresser space we can get!
Two items that I won’t be keeping in our bedroom are the curtains pictured below and the accent chair. I’m swapping out our current curtains with these pinch pleat curtains. We really need room darkening curtains so I ordered the curtains with a blackout liner. I chose the 96” length for our 8′ ceilings in the color beige white. I’ll make sure to do an updated post when I receive the rest of the bedroom items so you can see the full reveal.
The last new item in our black and white bedroom redesign is our area rug. We have the MAT-01 in antique/sage in the size 8’6” x 11’6”. It’s the perfect size for under our king size bed. This particular rug is different than many other Loloi rugs because it is especially soft underfoot. I think the softness of this rug makes is ideal for bedrooms!
Below is a closer view of one of our new nightstands. I love the scalloped detail and I think it compliments our bed well. I am still deciding if I’m going to keep these lamps in here. I LOVE these lamps; I’m just not sure about the dark gray color against the black nightstand. I have to live with it for awhile to see if I will keep it. As I look at it more and more, I’m am thinking I will keep them there! The other small detail on the nightstand is this cute ceramic bud vase that I snagged from Target.
The last detail I am still pondering is the fan. I love this black fan, but I’m thinking we need to switch to the white version of this fan. We actually have two of these white fans in our daughters’ rooms and we love them. I think by changing this fan to a white one, it will make the room feel more serene instead of have such a bold element.
The last couple details in our black and white bedroom are our olive tree, our artwork above the bed, and our bedding. We have this affordable olive tree and the artwork was made by me.
As far as the bedding, I can’t link the pillows, but I can link the blanket and comforter. We have this chunky knit bed blanket in the color natural and this linen blend comforter in white.
