DIY Cane Cabinet Doors

We finished our DIY cane cabinet in our living room, and it has become the perfect storage area for toys…and now baby items too!

Years ago I acquired a free bookcase and it was just a standard bookcase. We did a little makeover on it and added legs and crown molding at the top.

Awhile later, I moved the bookcase in my living room and painted it black:

Here’s the second transformation:

It became a toy storage area so I eventually decided to add baskets to the shelves so hide the toys a bit better:

I kept it like this for about a year until we started working on the DIY cane doors.

I got my inspiration from similar cane cabinets:

From here, I worked up a design for the DIY cane doors.

I bought open box weave cane webbing – 18” wide for the project. My dad made the door frames for me and Jason and I added the cane webbing and spray painted them black.
