We recently installed Flooret’s LVP, or luxury vinyl plank, flooring throughout the majority of our home, and, wow, the new floors have made me fall back in love with our home.
Our brick colonial was built in the 1970’s and we’ve been renovating it since we bought it, in late 2013. I loved our fixer upper early on, as we made a few big renovations to suite our needs at the time. Over the years though, as my tastes changed and our family grew to four people and two dogs, I realized that we needed to make a few more big changes.
One of the big changes we needed to make was our flooring. We desperately needed to install new flooring to fit our home’s updated vibe and our busy lifestyle as a family with young children.

WHY I CHOSE LUXURY VINYL PLANK FLOORING FROM FLOORET
When searching for new flooring for our home, I wanted it to meet a very certain criteria.
My wishlist for flooring included:
- that it be non-toxic for my family
- that it be a very specific light shade
- that it have beveled edges (more on this below)
- that it hold up to water spills (from dog bowls and kids)
- that it be high quality and durable
- that it be affordable
That’s a long list of asks in a flooring, and I wasn’t sure if I would be able to get everything I wanted. I started researching durable flooring options and immediately found luxury vinyl plank, or LVP, flooring. There are so many options for LVP flooring, as it seems to be the new flooring trend.
After learning the pros of LVP flooring, it’s no wonder they are so popular. LVP flooring is a great option for families with kids and pets, as the floors are super durable.
That being said, not all LVP is the same quality. I wanted the highest quality LVP flooring and one that would be safe for my kids.
After some research, I found Flooret and realized just how perfect their LVP flooring would be for my home and family.
Why I Choose Flooret:
Flooret floors are safe and offer clean air for my family. According to their website, their floors “have no traces of VOCs, are phthalate-free, have no formaldehyde off-gassing, and are 100% recyclable.”
Their Modin LVP floors have both a FloorScore certification and an Assure certification.
What do these certifications mean?
FloorScore is an indoor air quality certification. According to SCS Global Services, “FloorScore tests for 35 individual Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) specified by the California Standard Method for VOC Emissions Testing and Evaluation.” You can learn more about this test here.
Assure is a quality certification. According to SCS Global Services, “Rigid core flooring products that carry the ASSURE CERTIFIED™ logo guarantees that this rigid core flooring product has been manufactured to the highest standards and meets all the ASSURE CERTIFIED™ requirements for indoor air quality, rigorous performance, and low heavy metals & ortho-phthalates content.” You can learn more about this test here.
I was incredibly happy to learn about these certifications and that their flooring offers clean air for my home. In my opinion, nothing is more important than creating a healthy home.
Flooret offers the shade of flooring I wanted: Palka.
Flooret offers a lot of color options for LVP flooring. We considered several color options including Nakan, Palka, Tilden and Lato. Below, you can see how each flooring color looked in our home.
I laid these samples out and compared them throughout the day as the sun moved and the natural lighting changed in our home.
Jason and I both wanted lighter-toned flooring that felt fitting for our home’s current esthetic.
It was a tough choice but we ultimately decided Palka would be the best fit. It has a bit of a distressed look to it, with dark charcoal knots. The light taupe tone of it doesn’t pull any yellow tones at all in our home, which is something we wanted as well.
The runner up for me was Nakan. Nakan is a beautiful floor and has a bit of a warmer look to it than Palka. It also doesn’t have the color variation like Palka does.
The runner up for Jason was Lato. He may have actually wanted this one the same amount as Palka! Lato is lighter than Palka and doesn’t have the distressing like Palka does.
While all of the samples we got were beautiful, we really loved the way the Palka flooring contrasted with our black furniture, our white walls and our rooms as a whole.
We also liked how the Palka flooring looked throughout the day as the natural lighting changed in our home. My home does not get that much natural light, particularly in my living room. The tones in the Palka flooring really brightened up the living room and looked great across the rest of our rooms as well.
I think the key to finding the right flooring for your home is to get samples and look at them in your own home. The same flooring could look a bit different in another home because of the amount of natural light that home gets and the paint colors in the home.

Flooret offers enhanced bevels with their Signature model.
I chose the signature model of Palka flooring. There are three types of flooring models offered by Flooret: Signature, Base and Craftsman. The Signature model was the exact style I was looking for in my flooring. I love the wide planks with the enhanced bevels.
The enhanced bevels are essentially slanted edges around each flooring board. This makes for a beautiful esthetic when the flooring is laid. I also love how wide and long the planks are. Each board is 9” wide and 72” long.
Below, you can see just how pronounced the bevels are, making an outlined-look around each board.
Flooret LVP floors are 100% waterproof.
We have a six-year-old, a one-year-old and two medium sized dogs, so water spills are common. I’m thrilled that our LVP floors are 100% waterproof. If I’m unable to clean up a spill right away, I know it’s not going to warp and destroy our flooring. It’s so nice to have peace of mind with waterproof flooring.
Flooret LVP floors are high quality.
We don’t plan on changing the floors again so it was incredibly important to me that we get it right with high quality flooring. I’m so impressed with our luxury vinyl plank palka flooring. The boards are so thick!
The Signature model, which is what we have, has a 1.0 mm (40 MIL) PVC wear layer. This is an impressive feature because the wear layer is what keeps the printed film layer of the floor protected and looking new. If it’s easily damaged, the printed layer can then become damaged and you’ll need new flooring.
The boards also have an embossed-in-register texture and are scratch resistant. The flooring not only looks beautiful, it’s also high quality and durable.
Flooret’s flooring is affordable.
Luxury vinyl plank flooring has a range of prices. The great thing about Flooret LVP flooring is that it is affordable and high quality.
We chose the Signature model LVP, but they also offer a Base model LVP which is similar and even more affordable than the Signature model LVP.
Bonus! Flooret’s flooring is sustainably sourced.
While this wasn’t on my initial list of criteria for flooring, I’m so happy that their flooring is sustainably sourced. Flooret’s floors are made from renewable materials, like sustainably-sourced limestone.
I’ve been making changes since the beginning of the year to buy items for our home that are better for the environment and sustainable. I’m thrilled that Flooret’s LVP flooring are part of those changes!
THE INSTALLATION PROCESS
Flooret floors can be installed by beginners! They have an entire installation-question section on their website as well as how-to videos posted on their YouTube channel. We have installed flooring before, so while this was not our first time, we appreciate the amount of installation information provided by Flooret.
Tools we used:
- hammer
- caulk
- caulk gun
- rubber mallet
- miter saw (to cut the length of boards)
- table saw (to cut the width on the boards that meet the wall in the last row in each room)
- tape measure
- pencil
- 1/4” wedge spacers
- a tapping block
- pull bar
- Dremel tool with a wood cutting blade
- Oscillating tool
Jason first began by starting from the left side of the room and then working his way to the right side of the room. These floors have a click lock feature which made the installation process move pretty quickly.
We got into a rhythm where Jason installed the flooring, as I carried in new flooring and assembled the order the boards would go in.
Once Jason got to the last board in each row, he cut it down to size using a miter saw and then used the leftover portion of the board to start the next row.
A caveat: We noticed that in some of our rooms, the flooring created a very obvious consistent pattern in regard to the seam placement. It really depended on size of the room. We didn’t notice a pattern in our living room, but we did notice a very obvious pattern in our sitting room. If you like a more patterned and repetitive look then no need to change anything.
We, however, wanted a more random look, so in certain rooms in our home, we ended up alternating some of our leftover boards with other leftover boards of different lengths.
By switching up some of the leftover boards with each other, we created a more random, scattered seam look. Please note that this is just our preference and definitely not something you need to do!
Once Jason got to the very last row in the room, he used our table saw to cut the width of each board so it fit perfectly in the leftover gap.
After all the flooring was installed, we put the shoe molding back up around the room to create a seamless, finished look!

MY REVIEW
I cannot get over the amazing transformation of our home after making the switch to Flooret’s Palka LVP flooring. Our home feels more high-end, and the light-colored flooring works so well with our home’s esthetic. The floors have created an entirely new look in our home, and I could not be more happy!
We also love how high-quality they are. The boards are thick and durable. We’ve spilt water on them quite a bit, especially in our kitchen. They wipe up easily and never have any water damage on them. I can’t wait for summertime because I will no longer need to panic every time my kids come inside after being in the pool. I used to have to come inside with them and wipe up the floors as they tracked pool water across the floors. It’s going to be a game-changer; I just know it!
Overall, we are very impressed with the floors and we get so many compliments on them from visitors!
