My white quartz countertops are installed and I’m tickled with how they’ve given my kitchen new life! Every morning when I come downstairs, I say to my husband, “who’s kitchen is this?!” I still can’t believe it’s mine.

Let’s take a look at our kitchen progress over the years:
Here’s what our kitchen looked like when we originally moved into our home in 2013:
Here’s a photo of when we started demo:
Here’s our kitchen after we finished demo (you can read all about our kitchen makeover):
Later, we switched out our lighting fixture with pendants, got a new faucet, and added counter stools.
Most recently, we painted the kitchen white, painted the backsplash white, installed a new farmhouse sink, got new cabinet hardware, got new counter stools, and swapped our granite for white quartz countertops.
Eventually we’d like to get a new refrigerator and a new microwave. Other than that, we’re done this space!
The white quartz countertops
Our new white quartz countertops have been our most expensive upgrade in this space, and they are definitely worth it!
We chose misterio quartz countertops, which are in the mid range for quartz costs. They have a little bit of grain in them but not too much. The more grain in the quartz, the more expensive they are.
Far away, it’s hard to see the grain but up close you can see it throughout the countertops.
Side note – this cookbook is my favorite cookbook!
The main difference between granite and quartz is that with granite you can set hot pans on it, but with quartz you cannot. Apparently, hot pans can ruin quartz. I haven’t done it, but I don’t plan to see what that looks like!
Other than that, it is very hard and durable. I’ve only had my quartz for several days, but so far it has been very easy to wipe down. It is absolutely stunning and I have no complaints!
