I can’t keep Sadie and Max off my new rug from Boutique Rugs! It is seriously so soft! I absolutely love this new rug, and it really was the finishing touch to this room.
If you’ve been following along for awhile, then you know this space has been an ongoing DIY project. It used to be a closed off room that was completely unused.
I had an idea to make the space into a mudroom, and once I got J on board with my plan, he made my dreams a reality!! He knocked down a wall, installed hardwood floor, helped me build these IKEA cabinets, and then made the white middle area between the cabinets completely by himself. He’s got serious talent y’all.
I want to do a whole how-to post on this mudroom IKEA hack because it was SO budget-friendly. But that’s for another day.
Once the mudroom was complete, I immediately moved all our stuff into these cabinets. I knew I wanted to hide our mess behind pretty cabinets because it’s no secret that I’m not the most organized person. I try to be, but life is chaotic. Anything I can do to make my life easier, I’m going to do. That’s why I didn’t go with open cubbies/lockers for this area.
On the other side of the room, I painted the wall dark grey. We actually have this color as an accent wall in our basement. We love it so much that I decided to carry it through our home. The color is called Intellectual by Behr Paint.
I added this sweet photo of my daughter recently, and I just love it so much. It’s the first thing I see when I enter and leave the house.
The other cool thing about this photo project is that the large frames were actually made by my dad a couple decades ago. There are actually four frames total and the other three frames are painted in Intellectual (same color as the wall) and will go in our living room.
I just got some really large images printed by Vistaprint when they were on major sale. Easy peasy!
In the corner, I moved my beloved chair from our bedroom to this corner. It fit perfectly and it gets way more use here than in our bedroom.
I’m super pumped with how this space has all come together. It’s so functional and beautiful – which is always my goal.
