Get tips for simple and modern bookcase styling. Plus, check out our updated bookcase that I’m absolutely loving!
I decided to do a little renovation in this space! This room has been used as many different things – an office, a sitting room – and now a dining room. Funny enough, the original intent of this room was to be a dining room, and I’m finally making her one.

I’ve had the bookcase in this room for years, but I decided to give it a little makeover to look a little more modern.
When we first bought it off Marketplace years ago, it was a simple brown cabinet with no doors. We eventually added doors and painted it white.

I’ve been seeing so many black and white bookcases that I love so I wanted to replicate the look – but do it in a budget-friendly way.
Here is my inspiration:
I think I pulled off the look I was going for! It was tricky business to paint only the trim and it took quite a bit of time, but I’m so happy with the result.

Originally I was only planning to paint the trim but decided that I had to paint the entire bottom portion of the cabinet as well to pull off the look.

Next up, I restyled the shelves. I wanted to give it a simple and modern bookcase styling. I used only items that are black, white, and beige to keep it consistent.

Since this bookcase is in my dining room, I added some items that are dining-friendly like plates, bowls, linen napkins and chargers.

I also added candlesticks, a few stacks of books, a couple pictures, and vases.

On the table I added a few of my favorite stems.
