Holy moly, it’s hard to believe we’re already in 2020 ya’ll! Where did the time even go?! I have so many things I want to share related to the New Year as far as a word of the year and resolutions, but that’s for another post. Today I’ll stick to some winter mantle decor ideas!

Transitioning from a Christmas mantle to a winter mantle doesn’t have to take tons of time. The number one piece of advice I like to give is to remove the red decor from your home. Just by doing that, your home will already be looking way more like winter than Christmas.

Next, you’ll want to remove decorative items that remind you of Christmas, like Santas, reindeers, items that use the word Christmas, stockings, and your Christmas tree.

There are some caveats to removing your Christmas tree(s) though. If you have a real one, it’s mostly likely starting to turn brown at this point, so it’ll need to go. If you have a large, faux Christmas tree, it’s probably a good idea to take it down unless you want to use it as a large evergreen tree.

If you have a relatively large faux Christmas tree, you could stick it in a large wicker basket and you could pull it off for winter decor. I don’t have a large enough basket to put my Christmas tree stand in, so I usually opt to put away my large Christmas trees when transitioning to winter decor.

If you have some smaller, faux evergreen trees though, they can stay out in your home and look perfect for winter! That’s what I like to do, and it always works like a charm!

With just a few winter mantle decor modifications, I completely revamped my mantle for winter.

Here’s what my Christmas mantle looked like:

At some point in December I actually decided to remove the red anyway because I was craving more simplicity. About half way through December, my mantle looked like this:

By the time I was ready to make my mantle cozy for winter, I didn’t have to do much since I already removed the red items.

For me, it was as simple as removing our stockings, removing the Christmas lights, and replacing our Merry Christmas photo with a mirror.

I also added these cute bells where our Christmas stockings were hung.

We bought two 96” Campbell sofas. I actually saw them in store over Black Friday weekend and we bought them then! We’ve had them about a month and love them so much!

Here’s a list of sources for the decor:

On the mantle, I used a mixture of faux pine branches, snow covered pine stems, and a pair of antlers (similar).

My mirror is a vintage one that I spray painted a taupe color. I used these candle holders on either side of the mirror.

These 48” burlap trees are on either size of my fireplace. They are probably my favorite Christmas decor purchase in 2019. I love that they transition so wonderfully to winter.

I also added some cute, hanging gold bells (similar).

I’m loving this neutral look right now with my evergreen touches! I hope you found something that inspired you!
