I’m so excited about the recent changes in my spring kitchen!

You know how when you’re cooking dinner and your favorite song comes on, you can’t help but start humming along. Then you start nodding your head and singing along. Five minutes later you notice you have the wooden cooking spoon in your hand, held up to your mouth like a microphone while you’re belting out the lyrics and twirling around your kitchen. It’s not just me, right?! 😉

Life happens in the kitchen.

Like many families, our kitchen is the heart of our home. Not only is it my impromptu music room, it’s where Jason and I catch up on each other’s day, it’s where our family tells stories and laughs together, it’s where we sit and eat together, sometimes in silence if that’s our mood. It’s where we live our lives. I am home most of the day because I’m a stay at home mom/work at home mom, so my kitchen is especially important to me.

Sometimes I feel like I don’t give it the love it deserves. We haven’t made any major changes to it since we remodeled it a few years ago. And unlike the rest of the home, I rarely decorate the kitchen with each changing season. Aside from the occasional fresh flower arrangement on the kitchen counter, my kitchen hasn’t see too much change in the way of upgrades or decor the past couple years.

That all changed this year. We gave our spring kitchen some much needed love. Not only did I decorate it for spring, but I also made one improvement, just ONE, and it has completely rejuvenated the space. We swapped out our builder-grade faucet with this Kohler one from The Somerville Bath & Kitchen Store.

And by ‘we’ I mean my husband. 😉 He did the labor of installing the faucet, which fortunately only took about twenty minutes. He said the directions were so easy to follow so it didn’t take him much time at all. A Brick Home: spring kitchen, spring kitchen decor, spring kitchen decor countertops, kitchen decor, kitchen ideas #springdecor #kitchendecor #kitchenideas

I was in awe after he made the switch. Just one change to our spring kitchen and it felt like a completely different space. The faucet gave our kitchen new life. I now like to think of this faucet as the centerpiece of my kitchen.

Such a difference!A Brick Home: spring kitchen, spring kitchen decor, spring kitchen decor countertops, kitchen decor, kitchen ideas #springdecor #kitchendecor #kitchenideas

To accent the faucet and make a spring kitchen, I added some real and faux flowers. The pink hydrangeas are faux but everything else is real.

Sometimes it can be tricky to decorate under the microwave cabinet because there’s not much room. This basket full of tulips did the trick!A Brick Home: spring kitchen, spring kitchen decor, spring kitchen decor countertops, kitchen decor, kitchen ideas #springdecor #kitchendecor #kitchenideas

I like keeping frequently-used items out on my island, like my wooden cooking spoons. You never know when your favorite song is going to come on Spotify. Ed Sheeran songs, anyone?A Brick Home: spring kitchen, spring kitchen decor, spring kitchen decor countertops, kitchen decor, kitchen ideas #springdecor #kitchendecor #kitchenideas

A bowl of eggs is the perfect accessory for spring. Just remember, decor can absolutely be food! Sometimes a food display is the missing ingredient to your spring decor display.A Brick Home: spring kitchen, spring kitchen decor, spring kitchen decor countertops, kitchen decor, kitchen ideas #springdecor #kitchendecor #kitchenideas

Cutting boards are another great option for spring decor. You can easily create a vignette with some cutting boards, a few bowls, fruit, napkins, and a tiered tray.A Brick Home: spring kitchen, spring kitchen decor, spring kitchen decor countertops, kitchen decor, kitchen ideas #springdecor #kitchendecor #kitchenideas

The sunshine beaming through the window doesn’t hurt the spring kitchen-vibe, either. 😉A Brick Home: spring kitchen, spring kitchen decor, spring kitchen decor countertops, kitchen decor, kitchen ideas #springdecor #kitchendecor #kitchenideas

I love the way the faucet looks when the light hits it. Our builder-grade faucet was silver, and when Jason and I discussed the possibility of using a bronze-colored one, I wasn’t quite sure. We figured that since we had bronze cabinet knobs, it would look good. I wavered a bit because I liked the idea of mixing the finishes, but I’m so happy with our choice. This one looks so perfect in our kitchen.

I knew when I visited The Somerville Bath & Kitchen Store in Chevy Chase, Maryland (it’s close to DC) that it was going to look perfect. Their showroom boasts so many faucets as well as other bath and kitchen necessities that I was able to easily compare and contrast the faucets. I may or may not have also started comparing some other fixtures that I see entering my home in the near future! 😉

  1. We redid our kitchen a few years ago and put a similar faucet in. It remains my single most favorite part of the whole upgrade!

  2. Such a beautiful Kitchen!! Love all of the small details. We are moving soon and I think I will definitely use some of these details (ie. the flowers in the white pitcher — I already have one!! && the cake stand next to the sink!)

I am in awe of how much of a difference that faucet made. I’m glad it was easy for you (Whoops, I mean him) 🙂 to install. I think my favorite tip is to use cutting boards for vignettes and decor shots. Too often I think we get obsessed with having all this fancy equipment for the *perfect* setup for a photo when we could just use what’s already in our kitchens. And by the way, there is nothing wrong with completely rocking out to Ed Sheeran songs (or any song, for that matter) in your kitchen. Those are the best kinds of home memories!

You are so sweet, Lela! Thank you so much for your kind words. I’m so glad you like the tip to use cutting boards. I love using everyday kitchen items when I’m decorating my kitchen because then it’s pretty and functional. I hope you have a great day! 🙂

Your entire kitchen is inspiration for me! We are in the market for changing our faucet and I wasn’t sure what I wanted. Your granite is very similar to mine in color the bronze picks up the dark color in the stone so nicely. Did you paint your cabinets, or were they ordered that way? What color paint? That’s on my agenda also! And I am definitely painting my kitchen hardware after seeing yours!
Lovely pics; you have great taste!

Thank you so much, Maryanne, for your kind words. My cabinets were ordered this way – I didn’t paint them. I am not sure the exact color but they are very close to the color swiss coffee by Behr paint at Home Depot. I do really like the way the bronze tone blends with my granite. I’m so glad that these photos inspired you!

      Have a great day!
