Simple living room decor ideas for a cozy and elegant retreat.
I’ve made a few changes in my living room recently so I thought it would be a good time to do an updated living room blog post! My goal in this space is always to make a cozy and elegant retreat.

For awhile, I had my recliners near the window but recently swapped them back to the center of the room so I could put my sofa by the window. For some reason I just really like the sofa by the window!

On the coffee table I added some of my favorite Studio McGee/Target finds: my planter and bowl. I had some light pink faux flowers that I stuck in the vase, and I love how simple and pretty they are in the space.
On the left side of the sofa I recently added a console table and round mirror, which fits the space perfectly! I love that this console table has two drawers, which makes for great computer and iPad storage.

I added just a few Target finds on the console to give it a lived-in feeling!
Over by the side door, I added my two faux leather ottomans – also from Target! I think ottomans and benches are the perfect furniture items for half walls.

The recliners are now back to the middle of the room, facing the TV and I really do love them in this spot.

Notice I keep our extra couch pillows under the coffee table. It’s the perfect place for them because they take up a lot of space on the couch and I only want to have them out sometimes. Otherwise, they add a cozy touch to the center of the room.
One other recent change is the addition of my white roman shades from Select Blinds. I got the tan roman shade in our kitchen nook several months ago and finally got around to adding them our living room too. I went with white in the living room and I really like how it all turned out.
Below you can see the top of the white roman shade. I got blackout liners on the roman shades because we like to nap in our living room. They do a great job of keeping the sun out during our afternoon naps.
I also love the addition of another texture. There’s nothing like adding texture to a space to make it feel warm and inviting.
Here’s one more view of my recliners because I went a little picture happy in this space!
Thanks for joining me on a little living room tour of my cozy and elegant retreat!
