Welcome to our updated mudroom! I’ve been working on this project for a few weeks now. I started by painting the back wall back to white. It was a dark gray color but I wanted a fresh, bright look in here.

Next, I created an organization area for our hats and gloves. I got this beautiful cane cabinet and added six storage bins inside. I added bin clip labels to label each bin for each person’s items. It’s working great for us!
I always get a bit of confusion when I say this is our mudroom because it looks more like a styled space. The fact is that this, though a side entrance, is also the main entrance to our home. We use this entrance because it’s closest to our garage. Whenever guests come over, they also use this entrance because it’s much closer to the driveway than our front door.
In the corner, I created a sitting area to put shoes on. We have a bench on the opposite side of the room but it’s always packed with bookbags and coats. So, we needed an area to sit down and put on/take off our shoes.
I bought this beautiful accent chair that gives the whole corner an elevated look. I paired it with a black accent table, framed art prints and a vintage-inspired sconce.
I also added a new area rug that really ties the colors together in this space. It’s a cloud pile rug, so it’s super soft!
I actually ordered a small version of the rug too for the side door entrance. They’ve been working great and feel super comfy when we take our shoes off.
I felt the room was a little bare so I added roman shades to the window and door window. I ordered custom roman shades for this space.
Here are the specs for the roman shades:
- They are custom from Select Blinds
- They’re called Classic Roman Shades
- Color: simply white
- Mount type: inside (though I have the outside mount on the door window)
- Life style: cordless lift (I always get cordless, as cords are a hazard for kids)
- Fold style: pleated fold
- No valance
- Liner: standard liner
- Liner color: white
- Size: they’re all different, as each window in here measures different
I think they make the room feel much more finished! Plus, we now have added privacy which is always a win. There are a few more changes coming in this space which I can’t wait to do!
