I finished adding our picture frame moulding in our mudroom, and I couldn’t be happier with the result!
Our mudroom is actually more like an entryway. Not only do we enter and exit as a family in this room, our guests do too. The reason is that our driveway is right next to our side door entrance, which leads directly into this room. Whenever anyone pulls in, it’s closest to enter right in here. That’s the main reason I wanted to make this space beautiful and functional!

The makeover first started with this cane cabinet addition. I wanted to add storage for our hats and gloves, so I searched for the perfect storage cabinet. I decided on this cabinet because it fit here perfectly and also because I love the look of it and it was within budget.
I added six bins inside and labeled them with bin clip labels. We are able to pull the bins out like drawers because the faced the handles outward. I labeled them by person, which is helping to keep everyone organized! They also look better behind the cane than having random clothing items show through the cane. They’re beautiful and functional!
In the corner, I added a seating area for us to put our shoes on and off. We have a bench seat as well, but that’s typically piled up with coats and bags, leaving us nowhere to sit down for shoe removal. This seating area is just what we needed!
I added this beautiful boucle accent chair. It was my splurge item in this room! I always say you just need one or two splurge items to make a space look high end. I think it did its job!
It’s perfectly positioned across from our coat closets!
We actually added these built in coat closets from IKEA pax wardrobes. You can read about this IKEA hack in this post. Simply put, we built these two wardrobes and then added a bench and cubbies between them. We added some trim detail and crown moulding to make them look built in. It was an affordable project that has really paid off. We love and use this space all the time!
The bench cushion is from Patio Lane in the fabric cove pebble.
A new addition to this space is the rug! I absolutely LOVE this rug. It’s a cloud pile rug, which means it is super soft. The pile is not high, so it’s also very easy to keep clean and vacuum. It has lots of colors in it, so it doesn’t show dirt. I am very pleased!
I also got new roman shades for our windows. I got these roman shades in the color simply white.
Other new details include this beautiful and affordable wall sconce and these prints I used in two frames I already had on hand.
The bins above our built-in bench were from Target but they’re no longer available.
Our mirror is also new! I love the shape of this mirror and it fit perfectly on this wall.
The white vase is an Amazon find that I paired with these stems. The black lamp is a great look for less.
The last new detail is our picture frame moulding! I decided to add it in after I finished designing the room, so I worked a little backward in here. But, I’m so happy with how it all came together!

I painted the whole room in my favorite paint: ultra pure white by Behr paint. I am very happy with the result. It’s both beautiful and functional – which is always my goal!
