My ‘Winter Wonderland’ Christmas Mantel

What’s more beautiful than a Christmas mantel decked out in snow-covered branches and pinecones? The real thing, for sure. But, since it’s not really possible to go see a winter wonderland on a daily basis, I made one inside!

Jason has been away on a work trip for a few days, which meant Christmas mantel decorating time for me. Last year I decorated with more neutral tones, but this year I decided to bring some traditional Christmas colors into my home.

I was delighted when I found this Christmas wreath for just $35. It’s 30 inches, lightly frocked, and adorned with pinecones and berries.

I found a sweet snowflake-themed ‘Winter Wonderland’ throw pillow at TJ Maxx and used that design as a basis for other decor items. I found a somewhat matching throw blanket and Christmas stockings.

Though you can’t tell by just looking at it, the mantel is completely bowed. It’s a legit piece of a rustic wood with bends in it, instead of a straight edge. I love it, but it can be very difficult to place items on, especially on the left side. Somehow I was able to place the galvanized flower vase and burlap tree perfectly so, so they didn’t fall. One of these days we’re going to need to swap out the wood mantel. But it will do for now!

Speaking of that burlap tree – I actually made it last year. Unfortunately I hadn’t started my blog then, so I don’t have any DIY pictures, but it was so simple and budget-friendly. I used one of those styrofoam cones and glued layers of folded burlap to it. So easy and fun!

Although I very much enjoy using our wood burning fireplace, I opted to use four battery-operated candles to make a glow this time around. I bought them nearly four years ago for my wedding, and they’ve come in handy many times.

The wood crate you see on the hearth is one of those old Pepsi crates. It was actually left here by the previous owners of our home! I love it when that happens.

My sweet fur baby Sadie found a soft place to lay. Not pictured is my one year old running around helping me rearrange my display every two minutes. 🙂

I think your “Winter Wonderland” mantel, well, the entire room for that matter is decidedly bright and festive! I so enjoy your use of natural and rustic touches combined with the greenery and happy red Nordic print. The entire room is so inviting! By the way, you got a steal of a deal on that gorgeous wreath! 🙂
