Baby girl nursery ideas for a French modern nursery.
I’m so excited to share this mood board with you today that I put together for baby girl’s French modern nursery. I really want this nursery to feel sophisticated, yet serene, practical and somewhat feminine.
I’m about half-way through my pregnancy and recently announced we’re having a baby girl. This will be our second girl and we’re thrilled to add another little lady to our family.
Last time around, I did a light gray and pink nursery. It was sweet, but I realized later on that we really do make nursery’s for us – the parents. A newborn baby has no clue about design and doesn’t care at all what their nursery looks like.
We, the parents, on the other hand, are the ones spending the most time in the space looking around as we rock our newborn. So this time I decided that I’m making the nursery esthetically pleasing for me, and I’m not ashamed to admit it!
Here’s my vision for our French modern baby girl nursery:

ITEMS IN THE MOOD BOARD:
- Wall mural that looks like molding (more on that below)

- Crib
- Area rug
- Floor lamp
- Basket
- Throw
- Velvet pillow covers
- Mirror
- Black accent table
- Glider and ottoman
- Wicker diaper caddy
- Dresser
We plan to make a beautiful accent wall behind the crib with decorative molding. We are thinking something similar looking to this wall mural that looks like molding (except ours will be actual molding)! I’m not sure yet on the color paint. I may go with pure white or I may go with a light beige color.
I like the idea of adding black accents in the room to give it a modern feel. I love these black picture frames from Target to put above the white crib.
Luckily, I already own the crib. We had it for our first baby and it worked great, so I don’t see a reason that we’d need to swap it out.
I’ve looked at a lot of rugs for this nursery, and I think I’ve landed on this Loloi area rug in auburn/multi.
Here are a few rugs that I also considered for the nursery:
On the other side of the nursery, I plan to get these pretty velvet curtains in the color dusty rose or something very similar.
To hang the curtains, I purchased a new drapery rod in satin black. I love the brackets that come with it! It’s all in the details!
I decided to swap out my current glider with this new glider and ottoman. It is a bit pricey (to me), but there are many similar options that are double the cost of this one, which makes it a good deal for the look of it. I love the style of the glider and functionality of the ottoman so I couldn’t pass it up. We’ve actually already purchased it and are just waiting for it to come in!
I already own a small accent table that’s very similar to this black table. My table was light gray so I just painted it black and swapped out the hardware.
Since the table is a bit small for a lamp, I plan to get a floor lamp, like this one.
Some other details for this part of the room include these velvet pillow covers in the color jam, which I already own, as well as this affordable bouclé throw.
The last part of the French modern nursery is the changing table/dresser. I actually have a changing table that my dad made for my mom when I was a baby. It’s the perfect size for the room, so I’ll probably keep it. I may or may not do a makeover on it. More to come on that later!
Above it, I’ll hang up our French country wall mirror. I actually already own it, and I thought it would be perfect in this space.
I love the idea of some wicker accent pieces, like this beautiful diaper caddy to go on top the changing table and this wicker basket to hold some baby blankets.
Don’t be surprised if I stray from the plan, but for now, I’m really happy with the direction of the nursery for my baby girl!
