Come on in and take a look around our sophisticated baby girl nursery! This project started at the end of June and took about a month to complete.
It all started when I created a French modern nursery mood board. I had the idea to use four main colors in the design: beige, white, mauve and black. I really wanted this nursery to feel like a sophisticated baby girl nursery because Jason and I will be the ones looking at it all the time.
I’ve realized that an infant doesn’t care what their nursery looks like! I’m the one that will be rocking her and looking around the room. I want it to function well for me and the baby as well as look nice. I think I achieved that with this space!
SOPHISTICATED BABY GIRL NURSERY REVEAL

I wanted to use as much furniture as I could that I already had that would fit into the design. I kept my crib and changing table, though I did do a little update on the changing table. I also painted a side table we already had to save money on this nursery makeover.
One furniture item I did get new was our glider, which came with a storage ottoman and a lumbar pillow. I am so happy with this purchase! The glider swivels and glides, while the ottoman does not move. The ottoman does provide storage though, which I love. I also love the soft fabric and how comfortable the glider is to sit in. This glider was an excellent purchase for this space!
I use the ottoman for toy storage, which works perfectly because I don’t like looking at all the colorful toys out on shelves.
The sconce is a new purchase, and I’m super happy with it! In the original design plan, I wanted to use a floor lamp. With the swivel glider, I feared the lamp would get knocked down as I swiveled. I wanted to find a different solution to my lighting needs that would alleviate the issue of having a potential broken lamp.
One day, it just came to me: I’d use a sconce above the glider. I searched for some options and pretty quickly came across this one. I knew it was the perfect one for the space because of the colors, the size, and the fact that it has a dimmer.
The side table is actually an old marketplace find. I just painted it black and added this champagne bronze cabinet knob. Here’s a very similar side table option. The drawer holds the pacifiers and the bottom basket holds all her bows.
By the window, I chose to add a new curtain rod. I chose this one specifically because of the brackets that come with it. You can also purchase the brackets separately if you have a rod already. I think the brackets make all the difference!
I purchased a set of two wild rose velvet panels for the curtains. Luckily the company sent me a message to verify my purchase. Apparently I got the light filtering panels that are grommet (which is not what the picture shows). If you read the description though, it does say that. I’m so happy they reached out so I could change the order before they filled it.
Funny enough the curtains match my velvet pillow case covers perfectly! I didn’t plan for that, but I’m happy with that little surprise!
In the corner, I added a cute olive tree, and I love the touch of green it adds in the space. This is the 6′ option and I paired it with this budget-friendly black planter.
The crib is actually the same one that my first born used five years ago. It was in great condition so I decided to reuse it for this baby.
Above the crib I added two picture frames that I found at Home Goods. They’re 16×20 and hold 8×10 photos. I put these sweet bunny prints in them and I’m so happy with sweet they look. I feel like they make it look more like a nursery.
The wall behind the crib was, by far, the biggest project in this nursery. I decided to do an accent wall made of picture frame molding. I came up with a design plan for the space and did all the measurements. I even drew it out on the wall with a pencil before moving forward, just to make sure I’d like it.
I was happy with it, so Jason cut the molding and nailed it to the wall. I have a complete tutorial on how to install picture frame molding if you want to tackle a project like this.
I painted this accent wall in Sherwin Williams accessible beige, and I painted the rest of the walls in Behr ultra pure white. I also painted the ceiling in Behr ultra pure white ceiling paint.
One of my favorite parts of the sophisticated baby girl nursery is the beautiful area rug! I got the 5 x 7′-6” rug in auburn/multi. I think it pulls the whole room together, and I absolutely love the details and colors in it.
When you look up close the rug has orange/peach tones with small subtle blush tones. When you look at it from farther away, it does pull more of a blush color. Plus, I think the curtains also help pull in a blush/rose tone off the rug.
The baskets were Home Goods finds, and I think they have great prices on them. Most other places are at least double the cost for a similar basket.
The changing table is actually really old. My dad built it about 35 years ago for my mom to use for my brother and me. I gave it a fresh coat of white paint and swapped out the hardware with satin brass drawer pulls. I love the updated, modern look of it now!
I paired it with my French country mirror that I’ve had for awhile. I think they go so well together.
I got new changing pad covers for my changing pad, which are super soft. I chose this black baby diaper caddy for the changing station and love how many compartments it has.
One other new purchase I’m really happy with is the laundry hamper. For my first child, I bought a fabric hamper which was a mistake. It’s much harder to clean get out smells. I actually ended up buying a second one of these plastic hampers to replace the fabric one my daughter currently has.
