How to style a sideboard.
I am tickled to have this beautiful new sideboard in my sitting room. I think it was the missing piece in this room. When searching for a sideboard, I needed to find one that would fit the wall properly, have a beautiful design and also provide storage (which means no glass doors).

When I found this beautiful Athena sideboard from Rove Concepts, I knew it would be perfect; it checked all the boxes. I absolutely love the fluted detail and curved front edges. The sleek and unique design really sets it apart from other sideboards.

Below you can see how it looks with the doors open. Just look at all that storage space! The storage even wraps around behind the curved edges.

I actually had another sideboard in this spot at one point and it was way too tall. It looked awkward when seeing it angled in front of the dining table in the dining room. The Athena sideboard is the perfect height for this specific spot on our wall, nearly the same height as our dining table. This sideboard is 62.4 in. wide x 18.6 in. deep x 29.5 in. tall.

After deciding on this sideboard, I came up with a design plan to style it in my space and made a mood board (below). This is always a good step to do when designing any space because you can narrow down what items will look best together. Below is the general look I decided upon, which I thought would compliment our sitting room well.

Sideboard | Mirror | Lamp | Large vase | Small vase | Candle holders

I knew I wanted the bigger decor items to be a different color other than black, so that they would contrast with the sideboard. I chose this stunning lamp and large white vase to plank either end of the sideboard. I also picked out a unique-shaped mirror that is just the right size and height to pair with this sideboard.

After I got all the decor in, I decided to change just a few small things from the original mood board. It’s pretty similar, though!

I used these candles and candle holder that I already had because the candles are the perfect color match to the lamp. I also decided to add this pretty bowl with some books beside the lamp, to give it just a bit of variation.

I did end up using the smaller matching white vase from the original mood board, but I used it on the side table in our sitting room instead of on the sideboard.

The branches in the vase are actually real branches from a tree in my backyard! I had other, smaller faux branches in the vase initially but they weren’t really making a big impact. I’ve learned that choosing really tall branches is the best choice for florals on a sideboard because they always end up looking more high-end.

I’m so happy with how this pretty space turned out! This sideboard fits my decor esthetic and home so well. I can’t wait to style it with each season-change!
