Join me on a tour of my favorite room in my home – my sophisticated living room that primarily uses the colors black and white.
This room in our home has gone through so many changes over the years but this look is by far my favorite look. A couple years ago I started transitioning this room from a dining room back into a more formal living room area. Today, we call this room the quiet room because it doesn’t have a TV.
GET THE LOOK:
I spend lots of mornings in here drinking coffee and then toward the end of the day I read books to my girls or we have family game night. I love spending time in this room because it truly is a joy to be in. I love the energy and feeling of serenity of the room. It’s a calming and enjoyable space to be in.
Recently, I changed the room around a bit so that the chairs now face the sofa. I love this layout when we play games because we naturally facing each other. I do still enjoy the previous layout where the chairs lined the photo wall. One day I may move the chairs back to where they were but for now I like the flow of the room.
One of the things I love most about this room is the wall of curtains surrounding the windows. Instead of having a curtain panel on either side of each window, I choose to add wide panels between each window to cover the wall. I used pinch pleat style curtains and have a curtain tutorial about how I achieved this look.
One of my new investments in this room is this beautiful 99” linen sofa. It is also available a gray option. It is extremely comfortable and highly recommend this sofa!
Another new item in this room is the large artificial olive tree. I had my eye on this tree for awhile, mostly because I love the shape of the trunk. When it came back in stock I immediately bought it, and I was not disappointed. It’s large stature makes a statement in this room.
Some other favorite items in this room are the lounge chairs with french seams and the 9×12 Loloi rug in olive/charcoal. The black side table is part of the Studio McGee collection at Target, but it’s no longer available.
The chandelier was a thrift find, and I do have plant to switch that out at some point but for now I’ll enjoy it.
Thanks so much for checking out my black and white living room. It is such a joy to spend time in here. I have swapped out so many items in here over the years to get it to this point, and I’m so happy with it. This is your friendly reminder that spaces in your home take time, so enjoy the journey!
