Happy Friday! It has been so rainy here in Maryland this whole week. It’s also getting chilly, and I’m here for it! I love fall and winter – and all the cozy vibes that comes with the cold seasons.
I’m excited to chat about things I’ve been loving lately as well as our basement updates!
FRIDAY FAVES
- I’ve been wearing these black duck boots every single day this week when I leave the house. They are perfect for rain and cold weather. Unlike traditional rain boots, these are lined with micro-fleece so they keep you super warm.
- This true-to-size and affordable rain jacket has also been a go-to all week long. It’s light weight, has an adjustable hood and is my staple for rainy days. I have the color rose, but they have two other colors that are just as great.
- My dining room curtains are giving me all the feels! I’ve wanted this look for so long and I’m so thrilled that it all came together. You can check out all the details of my window treatments in this post.
- My new casual white tee. This t-shirt is super cute and fits great. It comes in a ton of different colors and is now a staple in my wardrobe!
- These gorilla grip pet trays are awesome! I recently bought two of them for each of our two dogs. The dog bowls used to sit directly on our hardwood floors and the floors started getting water damage. The pet trays catch all the water and food spills and completely save our floors from damage! I got them in the large size and the color beige.
BASEMENT UPDATES
We’ve been doing a lot of work in the basement recently. Awhile back we made a pallet wall in our basement and covered our HVAC in pallets. It looked great, but we realized later that certain pallet boards have chemicals in them. Our pallets were unmarked, so there was no way to know if ours had chemicals in them or not. We didn’t want to take a chance, so we ended up ripping them all down.
Our basement sat unfinished for probably a year… until this week!
We actually went into Home Depot with the intent to mimic the old look and use faux barn wood to create an accent wall. When we were at Home Depot, I wasn’t in love the idea anymore and wanted to do a different design in our basement.
Jason and I chatted about it in Home Depot and ultimately decided to change the direction and create a new design plan. We discussed several possibilities and eventually landed on the idea of doing a board and batten wall.
We have a board and batten wall in my home office that Jason made years ago. We love it, and we thought it would be nice to carry through that look into our basement.
So far, I’m loving it! All the board and batten is up and the HVAC is covered in sheetrock and trim. We need to finish caulking, sanding, and painting and then this space will be done.
I can’t wait to see what the space looks like complete and to share all the details to come!
