Not too long ago, my home office design was completely different, mostly because my office lived in a different room. I loved my home office when I had the bookshelves behind it, but eventually I needed my office to be in a room that had a door to shut off to the rest of our home.
I moved my home office back into this room, which was at one point a playroom.
Jason made me this beautiful board and batten wall a few years ago but I gave it a little paint makeover when I moved my office back into this room.
I decided to paint our DIY accent wall dark gray to give it a nice contrast. We used the color Intellectual by Behr Paint in our basement for an accent wall and we fell in love with the color, so much so that I started sprinkling it throughout our home. I chose to use it for this board and batten DIY accent wall in my home office design.
You can see this dark gray color as another accent wall in our DIY mudroom.
I almost left the board and batten wall plain, but I had these beautiful silver frames sitting around in my house, waiting to be hung in my bedroom, and I thought….just maybe they will go in my home office.
I tested them out and found out they fit perfectly between our board and batten squares. That was pure luck that they fit, and I’m so glad they did. I added four frames in the two center board and batten panels.
I went a little wild with my curtain choice. I normally opt for neutral curtains, but I was feeling like a bit of a brighter color would go well with my home office design. I love how they brighten up the space! By the way, these curtains are from Walmart, but I can’t find them online to link them.
I added an extra accent chair in my home office because sometimes Jason will join me in there. It makes it easy for him to pull up a chair, having a second chair right there.
For the finishing touch, I added this beautiful area rug from Boutique Rugs. It brought the entire space together, pulling in all the tones I used in the room.
I have a small home office, but I’m making it work! Having a beautiful home office design makes it that much better, especially now that I have this fun DIY accent wall.
I’m so thankful Jason made me this gorgeous wall. Learn how to make your own board and batten accent wall using this tutorial.
